The lead story, "Exploration of Sector 6 to Find Inhabitable Planet," follows Captain Adam Chase of the E.S.P. Exploratory Space Patrol as he discovers the planet Mentalla II, which possesses oxygen, gravity, and terrain similar to Earth, though he finds no signs of life beyond vegetation. A second story, "Weird Music," depicts jazz musician Clyde Bellin, whose dreams of playing smoky clubs mysteriously come true when he hears an otherworldly sound. A third story, "There Was a Man," features a ruthless, world-hating villain who discovers atomic fission secrets, enslaves nations, and becomes a threat to global powers, eventually threatening New York and Moscow with his rocket technology.
Captain Adam Chase recounts his mission to explore distant worlds, describing a planet that seems perfect—Earth-like in atmosphere and landscape—until he notices a mountain range that eerily resembles a sleeping giant. As he investigates, he grows uneasy, realizing the "mountain" may not be a natural formation, and when he camps beneath it, something awakens in the night.
In a smoky New Orleans club, jazz musician Clyde Bellin dreams of a cosmic, otherworldly horn music that leaves him haunted and changed. The next night, he plays the haunting melody and finds the crowd frozen in place, as if under a spell—only to be later dismissed as delusional when he claims to have communicated with a being from another dimension.
In a quiet home where illness has left Mama withdrawn and confined to her room, her constant companion becomes the television set—specifically a mysterious program called *Mysteries of Unexplored Worlds*. As her family grows uneasy watching her speak to the screen, believing she’s losing her mind, they’re stunned when her health dramatically improves after following the strange instructions she claims to receive from the show’s unseen host, Piros.
Anthropologists Craig Larson and his wife René arrive in the remote Amazon village of Antoza, drawn by rumors of a legendary beast said to protect the isolated tribe. As they uncover the villagers’ deep fear and superstition surrounding the creature, Craig becomes obsessed with studying it—especially after glimpsing a strange, reptilian humanoid in the jungle shadows. Determined to document the beast, he plans a risky expedition into its cave, unaware of what the creature’s true nature might reveal.
In a distant, oppressive nation ruled by the tyrannical Iko, who wields the power to destroy the world, a mysterious force intervenes when his plan for global annihilation reaches its climax. As Iko prepares to press the button that would end all life, unseen beings from beneath the Earth act swiftly to dismantle his weapons and stop him. The story ends with Iko vanishing, his people freed, and a quiet warning from the planet itself about the consequences of unchecked power.
Daniel Boone, the legendary frontiersman, rises to prominence during the French and Indian Wars, earning acclaim as the colony’s finest marksman. Drawn to the untamed wilderness, he ventures into Kentucky, where he faces danger, captivity, and fierce resistance from Native forces—yet persists in his quest to open the frontier. His determination leads to the founding of a defensive stockade, the seed of what will become Boonesborough.
