After Alice is dumped by her college boyfriend Jerry, she swears off dating for a time. After graduation, employed as a social worker, she deals with many unfortunate women; in the evenings she goes out, but never dates a man twice. Alice breaks her rule for co-worker Frank, but when they both get serious she breaks it off. Alice discovers her college boyfriend is now a deadbeat dad, and realises she’s nearly ruined her life just because “this big fool” once jilted her. Alice tells Frank she loves him and they decide to marry.
