Fashion designer Mildred marries Jerry but keeps her own name for professional purposes, and continues to work at her high-paid profession. Jerry decides she will only quit if he earns more money than she does, but in his haste he makes errors and is fired. He can’t find another position and this affects his relationship with Mildred. Mildred is offered a major promotion but instead quits “to stay home and be a wife!” Now Jerry has to support them, assuming he can get a job.
