Joan and Jim, a lumberjack at her father’s lumber camp, are in love. Artist Derek arrives to paint a lumber camp for a magazine commission, and Joan falls for him. Derek admits he’s married, saying his wife won’t give him a divorce. Jim attacks the weaker Derek and Joan defends him, so Jim quits. However, Derek’s wife and children show up – he had deserted them and provided no support. This changes Joan’s mind and she leaves, determined to find Jim and bring him back
