Lucy is secretary to wealthy, middle-aged publisher Cliff, who is in love with her. However, Lucy later falls for Tom, a new associate in the firm. Lucy writes a letter to her mother advising her that she loves Tom and was only interested in Cliff because of the financial security he could provide. Cliff accidentally sees the letter and is angry. Lucy thinks Tom is the one who gave the letter to him. She later learns he wasn’t at fault, and they reconcile.
