My Own Romance #18
In "When Love Comes Never!", shy and overlooked Cynthia finds unexpected confidence when a secret admirer sends her flowers praising her every feature—each one a quiet nudge toward self-worth. As her transformation draws attention, even her aunt’s well-meaning gesture becomes a backdrop to a blossoming romance with Stephen. Jack Keller’s expressive art brings the emotional journey to life, while Joe Maneely’s striking cover captures the dreamy, hopeful mood of the story.

After her beautiful mother’s death, “plain jane” Cynthia is sent by her aunt to an expensive school but is shy and awkward. Returning home, she’s ill at ease at a party, but later repeatedly receives flowers from a secret admirer, complimenting her various features. Cynthia’s self-esteem improves, as does her appearance, and she’s very popular at the spring ball. Her aunt admits she sent the flowers, but Cynthia has found love in the person of Stephen, so all is well.
