Mark returns from the war and doesn’t want to return to his job as a newspaper reporter. His old editor shows him an ad for a bodyguard, and Mark is hired by Caroline Tracy. They fall in love, but Caroline tells Mark she’s married and her husband Jack wants to kill her. Caroline married Jack but learned he was mentally ill, and when she asked for a divorce, he went completely mad. Mark calms Jack until he can be returned to the hospital, and convinces Caroline that she wasn’t to blame. Caroline’s marriage is annulled and she marries Mark.
