This third volume of My Hero Academia collects the continuation of the U.A. High School entrance exam arc, where Izuku Midoriya and his classmates face the practical portion of the test against giant robots. The story then shifts to the aftermath of the exam, introducing the concept of hero internships and setting up the next major challenge for the young heroes-in-training. Written and illustrated by Kohei Horikoshi, this volume also features the first appearance of the villainous League of Villains and their leader, Tomura Shigaraki.
In "Heroes Counterattack," the School's Board of Directors grapple with how to safeguard the academy from the League of Villains, while students learn their class will face off in a high-stakes Quirk-based Athletic Competition. Written by Kōhei Horikoshi and Caleb Cook, with art by Horikoshi and inks by a team including Fujiya, Horie, and Watanabe, this 2016 issue captures the tension and anticipation building at U.A. High. The cover, penciled and inked by Horikoshi, showcases the school’s resolve in the face of rising threats.
