The cover of this July 1957 DC issue says it all: Mutt has crashed his purple jalopy straight through a bedroom wall, leaving a gaping hole in the plaster, while a startled Jeff — sitting up in bed in his nightcap with a book in hand — responds with a bewildered question mark. Mutt's cheerful request to "use your phone to report an accident" captures the strip's signature deadpan absurdity in a single gag.
