Mutt and Jeff are at their slapstick best on this October–November 1950 issue, where the cover by Sheldon Mayer sets up a perfectly timed gag: the tall, dapper Mutt looks on with concern asking "Have an accident?" while the shorter Jeff sits tangled up in a thoroughly mangled red car wrapped around a bent street lamp — deadpanning back, "No, thanks — I just had one!" Bud Fisher's beloved comic-strip duo translates wonderfully to the comics page, and at 52 big pages for a dime, this issue offers a genuinely generous helping of their signature humor.
