Ms. Marvel #9
Ms. Marvel 9: Best You Can Be collects the final story arc of Kelly Sue DeConnick's 2014 Ms. Marvel series, following Carol Danvers as she faces a threat that forces her to confront what it truly means to be a hero. This volume includes issues #38-41, wrapping up Carol's tenure as Ms. Marvel before her transition to Captain Marvel, with guest appearances from several Avengers and other Marvel heroes.
In "The Amazing Spider-Date," Ms. Marvel races across the country chasing a trail of deception, from a remote cabin to the streets of San Francisco, only to find Mystique always one step ahead. With Captain Marvel dismantling the Church of Hala in Seattle and an enigmatic engraved invitation looming, Carol Danvers faces a final confrontation she didn’t see coming. Written by Brian Reed and illustrated by Sana Takeda and Ben Oliver, with colors by Takeda and Gandini and letters by Dave Sharpe, the issue’s cover by Paul Renaud captures the tension of a showdown on the horizon.
