Mother Panic #9

Part three of "Victim Complex" arrives in this 2017 entry from DC's Young Animal imprint, and the cover by Tommy Lee Edwards sets a genuinely unsettling scene. A TV news set is splattered with blood, a body slumps in the foreground, and a shrouded figure marked "Gotham City Coroner" stands ominously amid the cameras and studio lighting — while Mother Panic herself crouches high above on a lighting rig, watching with those piercing white eyes. Jody Houser, John Paul Leon, and Dave Stewart keep this mature-readers series sharp and atmospheric, and Edwards' cover makes clear that whatever went down in front of the cameras, it wasn't exactly breaking news anyone wanted to deliver.
