Mother Panic #10

Part one of "Under the Skin" arrives with a cover by Tommy Lee Edwards that sets an unsettling, intimate mood: Violet Paige lies slumped in an armchair, still clad in parts of her Mother Panic suit, while a hooded, ghost-like figure looms in the warm lamplight behind her — and a framed canvas splattered with dark, blood-like marks hangs nearby. The image feels more like a fever dream than a standoff, which fits perfectly within DC's Young Animal line's taste for the psychologically strange. Writer Jody Houser, artist Shawn Crystal, and colorist Jean-François Beaulieu bring their distinctive energy to this mature-readers series with issue #10 in 2017.
