The penultimate chapter of Moriarty: The Dark Chamber finds the Napoleon of Crime in a dramatically tense standoff, rendered here with brooding atmosphere by Anthony Diecidue. The cover places a wild-haired, gaunt Moriarty center stage atop what appears to be a rooftop or ship deck, sword extended and defiant against a hazy cityscape, while a cloaked, armed figure looms in the foreground as an immediate threat. Perry Freeze's moody purple palette gives the whole confrontation a gothic edge that makes this 2011 Image series feel like a genuinely distinctive take on the Holmesian underworld.
