Sana Takeda's cover for Monstress #37 pulls you in with quiet, unsettling power — a face emerging from near-total darkness, wet hair clinging to pale skin, glowing eyes staring outward with an intensity that feels equal parts haunted and defiant. It's a masterclass in restraint, letting shadow do most of the storytelling. Marjorie Liu and Takeda continue to make this one of Image's most beautifully rendered ongoing series, and this 2022 installment looks like no exception.
