Heather's father, after learning Voltar has captured her, destroys Voltar's laboratory, instead of the entire island fortress, but at a cost of his own life. Caught in the fumes caused by the chemical explosion, Dave hallucinates about a Magic Sword. On recovering his wits, he manages to save Heather's brother, Rex, seconds before his being subjected to a painful "endurance experiment". Having set Voltar's plans back by months, Dave, Rex & Heather plan to inform the authorities of the danger still present.
