Larry Ivie (1936–2014) was an American comic book artist, writer, and collector, best known for his role in early comics fandom and his contributions to the horror anthology titles of the 1960s and 1970s. Born in 1936, Ivie emerged as a passionate enthusiast during a time when comic book scholarship was virtually nonexistent; historian Bill Schelly described him as "the closest thing to an authority on comics that was available in the 1950s." His professional career spanned from 1959 to 2023, with credits as artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and writer across 18 issues. Ivie is most closely associated with the Warren Publishing magazines *Creepy* and *Eerie*, where his work appeared alongside that of influential collaborators such as Archie Goodwin and Al Williamson. He also contributed to *Daredevil* and the Brazilian series *Escaravelho Azul*. Ivie was a key figure in the creation of *Monsters and Heroes*, a fanzine that helped shape the early fan community. His style, rooted in the atmospheric horror tradition, was marked by detailed linework and a moody sensibility. Ivie died in 2014, leaving a legacy as a bridge between the Golden Age of comics and the rise of organized fandom. He received no major awards in his lifetime, but his influence is acknowledged by collectors and historians.
