☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThe issue features the adventure "Arda Thorn," in which the gorgeous female character pits her lawless talents against the criminal Blackhawk. The story includes an Arda Thorn subplot involving a search for descendants of George Johnson related to the town of Pickett, where she encounters small-time mobsters and plans action with new recruits. Additional stories include a humorous sequence at a National Aquarium involving a mermaid and department heads competing over her classification, and a domestic comedy strip about a father disciplining his son Ezra for poor homework habits and irresponsible behavior.
In "The Mermaid Gig," Ed puts his peculiar theory to the test by crafting a mermaid tail for Torchy, hoping to prove that a human in the suit can outswim even the fastest swimmer. When a fisherman hooks the tail’s fishing line, he’s convinced he’s caught a real mermaid, setting off a series of comically mistaken identities.
A teen boy needs a corsage for his date with Myrna before the stores close, and with help from his friend Rollo, he hatches a risky plan that lands him in the middle of Foley's Department Store's millionth-customer celebration. When the store's management tracks down "Miss Jones" to deliver her prizes, chaos and confusion follow—but by the time everything settles, our hero ends up with exactly what he needed for the big night.
