Skottie Young and Jorge Corona's Middlewest reaches its twelfth chapter with a cover that practically radiates dread — a red-hooded child stands with their back to us, a mechanical, spotlight-casting device hovering at their spine, while a fox and a large snake rest in the foreground beside a fallen "Raider Farms" sign. Behind them looms a fortified compound silhouetted against a burnt-orange sky, setting a tone that blends rural unease with something genuinely ominous. Jean-François Beaulieu's color work bathes the whole scene in deep, unsettling reds, making this one of the more striking covers of Image's 2019 lineup.
