Jude Ellison S. Doyle and A.L. Kaplan's unsettling BOOM! Studios series reaches its penultimate chapter with a cover that stops you cold: a blue-haired young woman hangs upside-down, grinning with unnerving delight as she brandishes a long sword in one hand while the other grips a scale from which two writhing serpentine creatures dangle. Ariela Kristantina's linework gives the image a graceful, almost balletic quality that makes the menace all the more striking — dark smoke curling from her tattered clothes against a pale background. It's the kind of cover that perfectly captures a series comfortable sitting right at the intersection of fury and the surreal.
