Marvel Zombies / Army of Darkness #1

The cover by Arthur Suydam sets a delightfully grim tone for this five-part Marvel/Dynamite co-production: Ash Williams — chainsaw raised and boomstick at the ready — is surrounded by a lurching horde of zombified Marvel heroes, with the undead faces of Cyclops, Angel, and Wolverine (labeled as menu items like "Fillet," "Chow," and "Rump Roast") plastered across a monstrous bulletin board behind him. It's a gleefully dark mashup that drops Ash squarely into the flesh-hungry Marvel universe, and writer John Layman and artist Fabiano Neves are along for every gruesome moment. If you've ever wanted to see one man with a chainsaw stand between the undead Avengers and whatever's left of civilization, issue one of five is exactly where you want to start.
