About this Collection

This collection celebrates Steve Ditko's transformative work at Marvel, gathering key stories that showcase his distinctive artistic vision and narrative innovation. It includes landmark issues of Amazing Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and other titles that defined the early Marvel Universe, featuring the debuts of iconic villains like Doctor Octopus, the Vulture, and Mysterio, as well as the mystical adventures of the Sorcerer Supreme. Ditko's unique blend of psychological depth, dynamic layouts, and surreal imagery cemented his legacy as one of comics' most influential creators.

In "Dream World," Steve Ditko and Denny O'Neil deliver a mind-bending journey as Doctor Strange is drawn into a surreal dimension where the very fabric of reality bends. With Steve Ditko handling both art and inks, and Stan Goldberg’s colors adding depth to the dreamlike visuals, the story unfolds with a haunting, otherworldly precision. The Ancient One’s guidance offers a moment of clarity as Strange confronts the consequences of his past choices—only to be swept into a clash that reshapes his understanding of power, fate, and the cost of magic.

Using his mystic powers to temporarily bind the sleeping Eternity, Dormammu lures Strange to another dimension and challenges him, but as they begin their mystical combat Eternity breaks free. He tells Dormammu to end the violence, but instead he attacks Eternity. Their encounter is brief and destructive as Dormammu is smashed between two colliding spheres. Eternity vanishes while Strange is hurled between dimensions and rescued by the Ancient One. Strange releases all those who were banished by him, including Baron Mordo and Clea, whom he affectionately bids farewell to for the time being.
