In "To Destroy the Monster!", Ross returns from Russia to deliver the devastating news that Betty’s husband died saving his life—shattering her mind and leading to her commitment to a sanitarium. When Bruce visits her in hopes of reaching the woman he once loved, Betty’s rage erupts, driving him to transform into the Hulk. M.O.D.O.K., observing from the shadows, sees an opportunity: with Betty’s hatred of the Hulk now a weapon, he plans to turn her against the very monster she despises.
In "The Hate of the Harpy!", Betty Ross, transformed into the monstrous Harpy after a brutal dose of gamma radiation from M.O.D.O.K., unleashes her fury on the world—first targeting the Hulk, whom she manipulates with heartbreaking emotion before striking him down. As the Pentagon reshuffles command, placing Colonel Armbruster in charge of Project Greenskin, the fallout from Betty’s transformation sends shockwaves through both the military and the superhero world.
In "Calamity in the Clouds!", the Hulk and the Harpy are swept into a mysterious tornado that deposits them on a floating city in the sky. Stranded in the thin air, the Hulk reverts to Bruce Banner, who is forced to confront the city’s lone guardian, the Bi-Beast, and its failing machinery. As tensions rise and M.O.D.O.K. arrives with his own ambitions, Bruce must decide how far he’ll go to undo the Harpy’s transformation—before the city’s final countdown begins.
In "Death from on High!", Bruce and Betty plummet from eight miles above the earth, but Bruce’s transformation into the Hulk offers a slim chance at survival. Stranded on a remote island, the Hulk struggles to keep Betty alive as they face dangers including a savage gang of volcano monsters. When a military helicopter arrives to rescue her, the Hulk quietly follows, determined to protect her from afar.
In "At the Sign of the Lion," Wolverine nurses his solitude in a dimly lit bar, torn between his quiet longing for Jean Grey and his simmering resentment toward Cyclops. His brooding is shattered when Hercules, the mighty Greek demigod, strides in and provokes him with arrogance and force—sparking a brutal, no-holds-barred brawl that erupts in the crowded room.
