“Where Bursts the Bomb!”

This 1974 Marvel Team-Up pairs two of Marvel's most wildly mismatched heroes — the flame-wreathed Human Torch diving into furious combat with a crouching, snarling Hulk amid rocky terrain, while a smaller Torch figure spirals upward in the background. The cover teases this clash as "fire meets brute force," and the banter in the speech bubbles captures the tension perfectly, with the Torch dismissing the Hulk's muscles right up until the green goliath threatens to grab him. Gil Kane's pencils and Frank Giacoia's inks give the whole scene a kinetic, hard-hitting energy, and the promise of Blastaar — the Living Bomb-Burst — lurking in the same issue makes this one genuinely hard to put down.
