When Mr. Fantastic tells Spider-Man that his new black costume is siphoning off his bioelectrical energy, Peter leaves the new duds at Four Freedoms Plaza and switches back to the red and blue. Looking for revenge, the costume escapes and attaches to Eddie Brock, a petty thief who was busted by Spider-Man. The symbiotic duo, now calling themselves Venom, terrorize Peter's school in order to ruin his life.
