“The Date the Earth Stood Still!”

The cover — penciled by Carlo Pagulayan and inked by Jeffrey Huet — crackles with energy as the Invisible Woman and a stretching Mr. Fantastic square off against a squad of green-skinned Skrulls on what appears to be a city bridge, with asteroids tumbling through a lavender sky in the background. It's a wonderfully busy all-ages image that promises cosmic-scale chaos brought right down to street level. Writer Fred Van Lente and artist Clay Mann deliver this 2007 Marvel Adventures entry, and "The Date the Earth Stood Still!" sounds like exactly the kind of fun, accessible Fantastic Four romp the line does so well.
