Marvel 1602 #[nn]
This 2007 Panini Brasil collection gathers Neil Gaiman's celebrated reimagining of Marvel's heroes transplanted into the Elizabethan world of 1602, with Andy Kubert's art brought to vivid life by Richard Isanove's coloring. Scott McKowen's striking cover presents a group of period-costumed figures — including a blindfolded young man, a pale-haired woman, a Native American figure, and an older gentleman in a wide-brimmed hat reaching toward him — rendered in a painterly, almost photographic style that perfectly captures the series' historical atmosphere. With a story subtitle promising an introduction to the principal players, this volume feels like exactly the right entry point into one of Marvel's most inventive alternate-history adventures.
