“Appointment with Diamonds”

In "Appointment with Diamonds," Scarlett’s romantic plans take a heartfelt turn when she chooses kindness over romance, skipping a date with Derek to spend the day with the elderly Miss Thornton, who’s been a quiet pillar in her life. Written by E. Fairbank and brought to life by Don Walker’s expressive art, this touching story captures a moment of quiet courage in a world where charm and compassion aren’t always on the same page. The cover by Don Walker perfectly frames the emotional weight of a choice that speaks louder than any grand gesture.

Scarlett had all the dates a girl could wish for except one with Derek. She gets her chance, but when she visits Miss Thornton to get her dress shortened, Scarlett remembers all the times Miss Thorntone had helped her family and now the old lady was about to spend her birthday alone. Scarlett breaks her date with Derek so Miss Thornton won't have to celebrate alone. Derek follows her from work to see who she had stood him up for. Realizing what Scarlett was doing, Derek understands that just because she is lovely doesn't mean she can't be a honey too.
