“Black Crag”

In "Black Crag," Margo prepares to leave the isolated Black Crag, believing her love for Greg is hopeless—until she stumbles upon him in the cellar, trapped in a desperate and deadly scheme. Written by E. Durrant and illustrated by Day, with inks by Day, this tense 1958 thriller unfolds in a crumbling estate where secrets run as deep as the gold beneath the floorboards. As flames spread from a dropped candle, the real danger isn't just Greg’s betrayal—it's the gelignite waiting to ignite.

Margo realizes she can never marry Greg so she decides to leave Black Crag. But as she is leaving, she hears someone moving in the cellar. Discovering that the door is unlocked, she enters to find Greg. He starts choking her, but Cavan rescues her. After discovering gelignite and some gold dust, they realize that he had been planning to fix up an explosion to get at a vein of gold after marrying her. When they see a fire has started from the candle Margo had dropped, Greg escapes and locks the door. Cavan knows that if the flames reach the explosives, the whole place will be blown sky high.
