The penultimate chapter of Bruce Jones and Mike Huddleston's five-part series arrives with one of its most unsettling images: a charred, smoldering body lying prone on the ground, tiny flames still clinging to it, while dark smoky tendrils rise and coalesce into the unmistakable winged silhouette of Man-Bat looming above. It's a hauntingly painterly cover by Huddleston — the ghostly transformation between the human and the creature feels less like action and more like a fever dream. With the story heading into its final act, this 2006 series continues to push Man-Bat into genuinely dark psychological territory.
