The 2025 Magik series was launched as part of Marvel's X-Men: From the Ashes initiative — the post-Krakoa editorial relaunch that positioned solo titles around key X-characters in the wake of the Fall of the House of X. Writer Ashley Allen, who had already written Illyana in the X-Men: Blood Hunt – Magik one-shot and Marvel Zombies: Black, White & Blood, was tapped to helm the ongoing, paired with artist Germán Peralta (Loki, Black Panther) and cover artist J. Scott Campbell. Issue #5 was edited by Darren Shan under editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski, with colors by Arthur Hesli and letters by Ariana Maher; it was released May 28, 2025, and collected alongside issues #1–4 in the trade paperback Magik Vol. 1: Unleashed.
