MAD #479 (July 2007) swaggers in with Mark Fredrickson's gloriously detailed cover caricature of a gap-toothed, dreadlocked pirate captain — trinkets and sports-team buttons festooning his tricorn hat — while a screaming capuchin monkey perches on his shoulder clutching a small sack. Inside, Drew Friedman and writer Frank Santopadre contribute to the mayhem, alongside promised jabs at WWE, Star Wars, and plenty of gross-out humor. It's a typically irreverent MAD package that wears its piratical attitude — and its "3.99 CHEAP!" cover price — with equal pride.
