“Jaw'd, Too”

Mad's January 1979 issue takes direct aim at Jaws II with a cover by Jack Rickard that's both a spot-on parody and a genuinely striking image — a massive great white shark surges from the ocean, jaws agape, with a water-skiing woman in a yellow bikini pulled along in front of it and Alfred E. Neuman grinning at a ship's wheel inside the beast's own mouth. Beyond the shark send-up, the cover promises a full spread of MAD mischief: takes on The Hulk, gimmick Christmas gifts, new-improved products, and clones, all for just 60 cents.
