Mad Magazine throws its punches in October 1977 with issue #194, featuring a cover by Jack Rickard that drops a nervous-looking Rocky stand-in front and center in the boxing ring — oversized gloves raised — while a grinning Alfred E. Neuman squares off behind him in red trunks labeled "Neverblast." The gap in size and confidence between the two fighters tells the whole joke before you even open the cover. Inside, Stan Hart and Mort Drucker serve up "Rockhead," promising their signature brand of movie send-up alongside targets ranging from Laverne & Shirley to religious cult leaders to Billy Carter.
