Though Facklan absorbs the flames, the victory proves fleeting, and as Captain Marvel battles Macro-Man, a tragic accident forces him to renounce his powers, transforming from the hero into Billy Batson, sworn never to wield them again.

In "Hatet växer!", Darkseid sends his agent Glorious Godfrey to Earth, posing as the charismatic politician G. Gordon Godfrey, who launches a public campaign against superheroes, exploiting fear to turn the nation against them. With the president swayed by Godfrey’s rhetoric, a ban is imposed on heroes fighting crime—leaving the streets vulnerable and the line between ally and enemy dangerously blurred.

In the wake of a presidential ban on superheroes, the Heroes' Guardians disband, leaving the field to chaos. As Godrey stokes public fury and injures Robin (Jason Todd), a new force emerges—Svavel’s revival sparks a government-backed squad of supervillains, each risking everything for a chance at redemption.
