MW Kaluta's cover for this July 2006 Vertigo issue is a beautifully strange piece of surrealist imagery — a woman's serene, watchful face dominates the lower half while an oversized cocktail glass balanced above her holds a wild gathering of fantastical figures: a winged fairy, a grotesque creature with a wide grin, a red-haired woman draped languorously inside the glass, and others raising drinks in revelry. The story is titled "Eve," and with Mike Carey writing alongside artists Peter Gross and Ryan Kelly, this mature-readers series continues to weave mythology and dark fantasy into something genuinely unlike anything else on the shelf.
