Part four of the six-part "Morningstar" arc arrives in this 2005 Vertigo series, with cover art by Mike Kaluta showcasing a strikingly composed triptych of dread. At the center, a pale skeletal or spectral creature looms amid a writhing mass of demonic figures, while a fair-haired figure clutching a flaming sword stands watch on the right and monstrous forms crowd the left. Kaluta's densely layered imagery captures the sense of cosmic stakes and infernal tension that has made Lucifer one of Vertigo's most ambitious titles.
