Loveless #4
Marcelo Frusin's cover for this fourth installment of "A Kin of Homecoming" is a scorched, tension-soaked image straight out of the darkest corners of the post-Civil War West — a woman in a wide-brimmed hat stands tall, pistol leveled, while a crowd of torch-bearing riders closes in around a broad-shouldered figure in the foreground, revolver in hand, everything bathed in the hellish orange glow of spreading flames. Brian Azzarello and Frusin's Vertigo Western continues to build its atmosphere of smoldering menace and moral ruin. If you've been following this series, issue #4 makes clear that the fire — literal and otherwise — is far from out.
