“Night to Remember”

"Night to Remember" in Love Story Picture Library #1109 (1973) captures a quiet moment of connection amid the bustle of the market, where Verity’s chance encounter with a barrow-boy-artist sparks a chain of unexpected events. As she uses her father’s influence to help the young man gain an exhibition, old family ties and unspoken ambitions begin to surface—especially when the man arranging the show makes his own intentions clear. A tender, character-driven tale from a lesser-known corner of IPC’s lineup, this issue unfolds with the warmth of a story told by a friend.

While riding her new scooter through the market, Verity crashes it into a vegetable cart. A stranger helps her smooth it over with the owner and she discovers her benefactor is a barrow-boy-artist. Her father practically owned the town and Verity uses her influence with him to get the artist an exhibition. But the man who arranges the showing has his own designs on marrying Verity and makes it clear to Chad that the only reason he is arranging the exhibition is due to Verity's influence and his own debt to her father.
