Love Diary #5 is an anthology containing at least two romantic stories. "Oh Doctor!" follows Elsa Gayer, a patient who falls for her doctor, Mr. Charles, after he prescribes coffee and motel reservations to help her recover—resulting in a budding romance between them. "Envious" depicts Betty Simmons, the new Miss Braylorsville for 1959, who becomes consumed with envy over her rival Lana's constant beauty pageant and scholastic victories, threatening to overshadow their friendship. A third story, "For the Love of Jim," involves a young woman named Ella Brant who travels to Alaska in winter to be with her boyfriend Jim, only to encounter complications when Jim's Aunt Martha becomes ill and requires nursing care.
