In "El amargo sabor de la derrota," Erik Josten and the Enchantress infiltrate the Amazonian lab where the Wonder Man was created, harnessing its technology to grant Josten new powers, a suit, and a new identity—Poderoso. With a scheme to ruin the Avengers' reputation, they manipulate public opinion and force the team's dissolution, leaving Hawkeye, Mercury, and Scarlet Witch struggling to find work until they're drawn into the twisted world of the Master and his Criminal Circus. Written by Stan Lee and illustrated by Don Heck, with inks by Wally Wood, this 1981 issue features a cover by Jack Kirby and Wally Wood.
