El Espadachín acepta por fin la oferta del Mandarín, y tras un engaño sofisticado entra en Los Vengadores con la intención de colocar una potente bomba en la mansión. Ya instalada, el Espadachín se arrepiente y al retirarla es sorprendido por los Vengadores. Se enfrentan, se desactiva la bomba y el Espadachín termina huyendo, desacreditado y lamentando no poder volver con ellos.
