Eris proclaims that she gave the infant Persephone the gift of wrath. Apollo harpoons Eris, bragging that he's doing it for the sake of the community, and that he is the son of Zeus. Zeus, desperate to keep Apollo from exploiting Persephone's power, exiles Persephone and her mother to the Mortal Realm, and cuts off that realm from any communication or visitation to or from the other realms. The despairing Hades and Persephone are separated.
