This anthology issue contains two main stories: "Red Arrows Mean War!" depicts a conflict in which Red Claw, a Native American antagonist, betrays Long Bow and his companions, leading to a dangerous chase involving attacking wolves and a desperate escape over a cliff on horseback. "Lone Bow" by Capt. Stuart Kerrigan follows Long Bow and children as they attempt to jump from Old Squaw's Rock to escape danger, and later involves Long Bow setting a trap to prevent Bright Day's warriors from stealing a sacred headress from the Pawnee chief, though complications arise when a wildcat threatens the group.

Red Arrows Mean War
10 pp · Western-Frontier

When tensions between the Snakes and Arapahoes threaten to ignite into outright war, Red Eagle, the Blackfoot chief, calls both tribes to his council fires hoping to broker peace—but a heated horse race and accusations of foul play nearly derail his efforts. As Long Bow and his friend Thunder Bird discover that honor and understanding between individuals can bridge tribal divides, a darker conflict emerges when Red Claw returns with captives from the Arapahoes, including a girl connected to Thunder Bird, setting the stage for Long Bow to navigate the growing hatred that could still tear the plains apart.

The Moon of Lost Ponies
4 pp · Western-Frontier

A boy among the Pawnee must navigate both an attack by Blackfoot warriors and the strict laws of his own tribe when his courage in battle collides with an act of theft. Bright Day faces judgment from his father, but the code that forgives bloodshed in war may offer an unexpected path forward. This frontier tale explores honor, punishment, and the complex rules that bind a community together.
