“Road Rage”

The Main Man is clearly in his element on this January 1998 cover — Lobo crouches low on his space-hog, cigar clenched in his teeth and a heavy chain in his grip, tearing past a bent "ONE WAY" sign that suggests traffic laws are very much optional. Carl Critchlow and Mark Propst pack the image with raw attitude, the dramatic low angle and vivid teal-and-red palette giving the whole scene a genuine sense of velocity. With Alan Grant at the wheel for the aptly titled "Road Rage," this issue looks like exactly the kind of chaotic, high-speed trouble the Last Czarnian lives for.
