Little Max Comics #40
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeHarvey's pint-sized charmer is up to his usual mischief in this 1956 entry from Little Max Comics — a tie-in to the beloved Joe Palooka universe. The cover shows the grinning, red-headed Little Max gleefully launching a ball or pellet from a thin rod straight into a hanging yellow sheet, sending a satisfying burst of comic-book impact clouds popping through the fabric. It's the kind of cheerful, good-natured trouble that made this series a staple of mid-1950s Harvey humor comics, all for just a dime.

Max overhears two men discussing that they need to lose weight and decides he should do the same. He spends the entire day doing exercises that he has seen Joe Palooka do when losing weight for a boxing match, wearing himself out in the process. Joe invites him and Casey out to dinner, and Max is so hungry from all of his exercise that he eats much more than usual. In the end, he has gained two pounds, but Joe tells him that it is healthy for a boy his age to gain weight.
