An anthology issue featuring two stories. "Hot-Rod in Cousin Trouble" follows Hot-Rod as his cousin Elfreda visits; when his mother asks him to entertain her, Hot-Rod takes her to the lake to escape the heat, but his plans go awry when she tags along on his outing. Little Eva appears in a separate story where she and a friend attempt to sell items door-to-door as part of a house-to-house campaign, encountering Mrs. Smith and trying to persuade her to make a purchase with various sales tactics.

Cousin Trouble
6 pp · Car

A boy named Hot-Rod goes to great lengths to ditch his visiting cousin Elfreda so he can make it to a ball game with the gang, but his schemes to lose her keep backfiring in unexpected ways. When he finally manages to hand her off to a friend and escape, he discovers that his clever cousin has outsmarted him in the most satisfying way possible.

Water, Water Everywhere
7 pp

Dealing with an insufferable heat wave, Little Eva tries everything to cool off—first raiding the refrigerator, then discovering the town's swimming hole is actually the drinking water reservoir. When she finally tracks down the old swimming hole on the other side of town, she realizes she's forgotten the one thing she absolutely needs, forcing an embarrassing trek back home.

The Strange Perfume
9 pp

Eva and Clarence launch an ambitious perfume business using a homemade formula and an unconventional sprayer, only to discover their creation is spectacularly unpopular with their neighbors. When the "perfume" finally finds an unexpected use, the duo sees a glimmer of success—but their attempt to recreate the formula leads them down an even stranger path. A classic tale of young entrepreneurs learning that sometimes failure is just one wild experiment away from an entirely different kind of discovery.
