Li'l Genius #11
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeIn the main "Li'l Genius" story, a young boy creates mischief when he watches his father play golf, leading adults to suggest he needs rest and music therapy; a doctor charges $150 for treatment. The boy then engages in imaginative play with his mother, wanting to do something, and later causes a crash when he crashes into the quiet house. In a separate adventure, the boy and his friends play cowboys and Indians by a creek, with one child pretending to be a fisherman and another claiming to catch worms, resulting in outdoor adventure and mischief involving beaver creek.
Li'l Genius has a new baby sister, and he's not quite sure what to make of her—especially since she cries constantly, can't play baseball, and seems to have a lot in common with his grandpa. Through his conversations with friends and family, Ollie learns some hard truths about what it really means to have a baby around the house.
When Li'l Genius accidentally totals a car after a spirited moment of play, his parents are pressured to seek help—and a doctor's unconventional prescription lands them at an opera performance starring the formidable Mrs. Shriekly. What should've been therapeutic turns into a comedy of manners as the young troublemaker's energy proves hard to contain in polite company, and everyone learns a valuable lesson about managing expectations (and children).
When Li'l Genius visits Mrs. Brown's house, his mischievous energy puts both the furniture and his host's patience to the test—from lounging on couches to accidentally destroying valuables while caught up in the action on television. As Mrs. Orwell tries to keep her boy in line, Li'l Genius finds trouble in the most unexpected places, whether it's outsmarting her with clever wordplay or accidentally creating chaos wherever he turns his attention. This is a delightful snapshot of a spirited kid learning what it means to be a guest, one humorous mishap at a time.
