Legends of the Dark Knight #8

Part three of "Gothic" arrives in June 1990, and Klaus Janson's cover sets an atmospheric tone that perfectly suits Grant Morrison's dark storytelling — Batman looms large against a star-filled sky, his expression grim and resolute, while below him a glowing skeletal figure wreathed in eerie golden light stands before a foreboding castle reflected in still water. The juxtaposition of the spectral, burning apparition against that imposing Gothic architecture gives the image a haunted, almost medieval weight that few Batman covers of the era manage to achieve.
