Legends of the Dark Knight #2
Part two of the five-part "Shaman" arc finds Batman's cowl at the center of an arrestingly eerie cover — the familiar dark mask looms close, tangled in dry grass and adorned with what appear to be primitive totems and clawed, ritualistic hands reaching in from the edges. Ed Hannigan and George Pratt's painted cover art gives the 1989 image a raw, almost mythic dread that suits the shamanic theme perfectly. Dennis O'Neil, Ed Hannigan, and John Beatty bring their considerable talents to this moody chapter in DC's anthology series dedicated to the Dark Knight's early years.
